Farrington Academies

We are pleased to welcome you to the Farrington Academy page and are excited about what's in store for students over the next few years. Currently, Farrington offers 10 different academies with opportunities available in few schools in Hawaii. Academies capitalize on student interests and aptitudes to provide curriculum and experiences that challenge and motivate all students.

Farrington offers both career and theme academies. In the career academies such as Creative Arts & Technology, Business, Culinary Arts, Engineering, Health, Law & Justice and Teacher Cadet, related electives are clustered into a coherent sequence of courses and are linked to core academic courses. Theme academies such as Farrington's Liberal Arts, Hawaiian and International Studies link their core classes to a broad variety of electives.

The academy concept provides students with a sense of community as the teachers team around the students in their respective academies. Teachers in the career academies conduct several cross-disciplinary units where the teachers integrate lessons around a common theme, topic or project. The students receive an enhanced curriculum with a sense of real world relevance across the curriculum. In each program a coordinated effort is made to provide experiences and bring outside resources such as expert speakers, job shadowing and other real world applications from the world of employment and higher education into the classroom.

We look forward to a great year!
